Jim O'Rourke and Kassel Jaeger join forces to create a malleable bubble of hovering excitement (a.k.a. "an album")

The ever amazing Jim O’Rouke seems to be exponentially increasing his recorded output, and, if he continues on this trajectory:

1. He’ll probably collapse in an exhausted heap and be crushed by the enormous weight and gravitas of his recorded legacy.
2. The only quibble that fans will have with said legacy will be that it accidentally crushed their very productive mate, Jim.

Now, the latest point has been plotted in the exponential graph that describes O’Rourke’s output in the form of the March 10 release of his collaborative album with French electronic maestro Kassel Jaeger. The record, called Wakes on Cerulean, is available for pre-order now via Editions Mego, who describe the album as both “a staggering feast of the joys found in electronic process” and “a malleable bubble of hovering excitement, melody and joyous refrain.” You can check out an excerpt from the album down below to decide for yourself which one you think it is.

(But again — because this is Jim O’Rourke we’re talking about, this latest plot point has already been prefigured by two new records in his Steamroom series since 2017 began, both of which also seem to revel joyously in the compulsive process of experimental electronic album-making that will one day kill this man.)
