Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke, and Oren Ambarchi ready part one of collaborative album for June release, part two coming later in 2014

As if they were superheroes and their arch-nemesis was a big guy in a cape trying to keep people from releasing live recordings of their annual concerts, Keiji Haino, Oren Ambarchi, and Jim O’Rourke are at it again. Yes friends, when I say “it” I do mean “releasing a full-length recording of their annual live performance as the most powerful of trios at SuperDeluxe in Japan!” You’re so perceptive! On this newest release, if we’re going to go ahead and stick with the superhero thing I kicked the post off with, Haino/Ambarchi/O’Rourke battle an evil mad man who thinks all LP titles should be short and easy for internet music news writers to memorize and put in their headlines. In titling the release Only Wanting to Melt Beautifully Away Is It a Lack of Contentment That Stirs Affection for Those Things Said to Be as of Yet Unseen, they strike a punishing blow against their foe. Out on June 10 from Black Truffle on both CD and LP, and with design yet again from Stephen O’Malley, Only Wanting… features one long track of the trio collectively improvising, fighting evil, and, you know, becoming better friends.

But wait, he said, worried that he had lost your attention with all that superhero talk, there’s more! Only Wanting… is but the first release to stem from the group’s March 2013 performance, as it catalogs only their first set. Later this year Black Truffle will bring forth another release containing their entire second set! Until then you’re going to have to just bide your time, buster. Hows about in the meantime you listen to any of the four other recordings that Haino/Ambarchi/O’Rourke have made over the years? Like, oh, I don’t know, last year’s Now While It’s Still Warm Let Us Pour in All the Mystery (TMT Review), or maybe 2012’s Imikuzushi (TMT Review). You wanna pre-order it? You should pre-order it! Here’s a CD pre-order link, and here’s an LP one. Go crazy!
