If there’s one takeaway to this whole news story, it’s that Lily Allen is British. I know, I know; who cares? But no, you do. We all do. This is a huge deal. Especially if you’re American. Pop stars are only truly awesome if they’re British pop stars. Lady Gaga? Katy Perry?? Michael Jackson??? Flashes in the pan! The Beatles? The Spice Girls?? Chumbawamba??!? Yup. Enduring legacies that enrich the lives of generation after generation of casual and serious North American music listeners alike. Case closed.
Anyway, now that we’re on the same page, Lily Allen has announced that she’ll be touring our beloved continent of North America in support of her (unimpeachably awesomely titled) new album Sheezus, which just came out on Warner Bros. Being British pop, it’s no surprise that the album has already, according to a press release, “peaked at No. 1 on iTunes in six countries, including the U.K., at No. 2 on iTunes in seven countries, including the U.S., and is Top 10 on iTunes in a total of 20 countries.” See? Who else is putting up numbers like that? Beyoncé??? Psssht. I don’t even know what her last name is!
Oh, and FYI. You don’t even have to wait until the fall to get your British Pop fix, cuz Allen is also performing on Live with Kelly and Michael on whatever day May 26 is. Sorry; too busy setting-up THREE DIFFERENT TIVOS to look that up right now.
