So, Lorde has a new single out. You know…Lorde? From MUSIC???

With Melodrama out very very soon (June 16 via LAVA/Republic Records), Lorde is understandably trying to keep the hype-fire around her second album blazing as hotly as possible. And after her last single “Perfect Places” was labeled an “existential party anthem” by Rolling Scone and given the coveted “Best New Truck” distinction by Porchfolk, who could blame her? Thus, we have another new single from the New Zealand-born singer, “Sober.”

Now, I’m in the mainstream media; I can’t give “Sober” an endorsement that holds the same weight as the Billborts, Rolling Scones, or Porchfolks of the world. Shucks, those’re illustrious publications known all ‘round the world! And I am but one man…but, that’s not going to stop me from giving “Sober” my official “Yeah That’s A Song, Alright!” stamp of approval!

Keeping true to its album’s title, “Sober” is a melodramatic affair on an album that seems like it’s going to chock-full of them — which, again, makes sense, as the album is called Melodrama. I mean: I don’t know, it’s a good song! It’s got horns in it! Go Lorde!

Whatever. Listen and decide for yourself whether “Sober” is, in fact, “A Song, Alright” down below. But also, Lorde has also announced a bunch of tour dates in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand throughout the Fall, which come in addition to the slate of festival dates Lorde already has planned all over the world for the Summer. She’s a regular Carmen Sandiego! You can check out all of those dates, also down below. Melodrama, meanwhile, is still out June 16 and can be melodramatically pre-ordered, then returned, then pre-ordered, then returned, then pre-ordered again once-and-for-all via Deezer here.
