Like moths to flames, we are drawn to those blessed with the gift of translating personal issues into something much more universal, making us aware of the problems and conflicts that we all share. Marissa Nadler’s latest album was borne of relationship pain and spiritual searching. Always uncompromising and intense, Nadler dug even deeper into her inner world when writing For My Crimes and asked the ultimate questions: Can love make everything work? Can love conquer all?

The mysterious power of music can provide reflection, guidance and truth and you can hear all of Nadler’s intimate portraits of love in flux and more for yourselves in the title track below and on September 28 when For My Crimes gets released by Sacred Bones and Bella Union.

Eight albums in and Nadler is still composing fresh, unpretentious and delectably played music like someone still turned on by a newly discovered superpower. Aided by a coterie of talented women (Sharon Van Etten, Kristin Kontrol [formerly Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls], Mary Lattimore, the remarkable multi-instrumentalist Janel Leppin, Angel Olsen, Patty Schemel) and one man (Dana Colley [Morphine]) and co-produced with the brilliant duo of Lawrence Rothman and Justin Raisen (Charli XCX, Kim Gordon, Ariel Pink), For My Crimes is yet another genuinely immersive experience from a master of her craft.

Flutter away here to pre-order For My Crimes — but first, hover for awhile below and check out the beautiful title track, assisted by another one-and-only, Angel Olsen.
