Mark McGuire (Emeralds, St. Louis Cardinals) preps Living With Yourself for Editions Mego

Mark McGuire has announced that he will finally be moving past his impressive (and sometimes controversial) legacy as one of baseball’s most productive batters and will be focusing on his second passion: music. The legendary player, who finished his career playing with the St. Louis Cardinals and hit 583 homers in a 15-year career, has announced that his debut album, Living With Yourself, will be released October 1 through Editions Mego.

Recorded in 2009, Living With Yourself features both electric and acoustic guitar-playing and is sure to show a side of the slugger that many fans never knew existed. The subject matter of the album “focus[es] on [McGuire’s] family, early friendships and the problems that inevitably develop through years of knowing someone.” The album is further described as “tak[ing] McGuire’s sound even further out, and contains some his most accomplished songs to date.” Hmm, I wonder if Mark’s friendship and rivalry with fellow home-run kings Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds will be addressed…

Oh, wait, what? This Mark McGuire is the musician and guitarist for Emeralds and not Mark McGwire the steroid-packed baseball player? THEN WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT THIS ALBUM?
