Despite the fact that they’re both well over 120 years old (and haven’t put an album out since 2011’s Mountaintops), the ORIGINAL husband-and-wife-who-both-sing-and-there’s-keyboards-involved duo known as Mates of State are still out there, alive, kicking, and forcing themselves to look young for the sake of judgmental college kids everywhere.
BUT HEY WAIT. That’s not the ONLY thing they’re forcing! LOL! No, seriously: I’m kidding!
Despite their advanced years, it turns out that, on June 16, they’re popping out another record and touring the USA on it! Given their ages, it’s “just” an EP, of course, but it’s titled You’re Going to Make it and is being delivered into the world courtesy of Barsuk Records. Awwww! Newborn records are ALWAYS ADORABLE!
BUT HEY WAIT. UNLESS THEY’RE GREATEST HITS COMPS! LOL! No, seriously: Joking again! They’ve also just released a “greatest-hits album” on the Fierce Panda label called… uh, Greats. Um. Ew? Oh well. To the oldsters’ credit, there are only 11 songs on it. And they totally DIDN’T try to sneak one of these new EP tracks on it like jerks! Pretty classy.
