Heads up: Mexico City-based experimental dance collective N.A.A.F.I. is about to drop an exciting label comp, titled NAAFI 2.0 (and I wouldn’t want it to land on you!). Don’t worry, you haven’t missed the 1.0 edition: as far as I can tell, the number is supposed to reflect the next-level nature of the compilation, which showcases the work of six producers (50% female), all of whom are relatively new additions to the label’s roster. Two cuts from the release are already streaming on N.A.A.F.I.’s Soundcloud, and the whole thing will be available TOMORROW (a.k.a. Friday, June 9)

The artists in-question include New York City producer and visual artist Debit (also part of the experimental duo HD XD), Argentine hard-dance enthusiast Tayhana, and Traxmatix, “an English producer that four years ago decided to make Mexico City his base of operations.” From the tracks that the label has shared so far, as well as press release bits, it seems the compilation is going to skew aesthetically towards the abrasive and the dismal (TGIF?), with tension being the primary focus of the producers’ explorations. Fair enough; it’s still 2017, after all…

Until tomorrow, listen to Debit’s “Corporeality” and “Encuentros Furtivos” by Tayhana below, and then take a look at the tense, abrasive, full tracklisting of NAAFI 2.0. Happy birthday…somebody:

03. Traxmatik -“Pushed”
