Look, Jordan Lee isn’t doing this for himself. When he named his soothing indie-folk project Mutual Benefit, he did so to send a message. This stuff is for him, but it’s also for you, you big dumb idiot. So when he goes on tour, you’d better appreciate it. With that in mind, Mutual Benefit are doing a lot of touring over the next few months, so say thank you. Say thank you like you mean it. Many of the group’s dates will be opening for Wild Beasts, a fine band who know how to show their appreciation. Good guys, those Wild Beasts.
While we’re in the mood for appreciating, let’s go ahead and appreciate some damn art, alright? Specifically, check out the art that is the recent video for Mutual Benefit’s “Let’s Play/Statue of a Man.” The clip, directed by Stefan Grabrowski, was shot over six months around the Boston area using primarily analog equipment and making use of experimental developing techniques. As such, this clip is pretty kooky looking! And pretty great looking, too. I appreciate it.
