My Bloody Valentine announce first live gig since 2013, might wanna change the oil in their tour van

Dear Joe Davenport:

Just wanted to let you know that, according to a very trust-able voice in music, Kevin Shields and whoever else is in m b v have just announced that they’ll be making their first live appearance since late 2013! (Well, either that, or they announced it four years ago and set a REALLY REALLY LONG DELAY on it.)

Yup, for real. Like: they’ve probably already started unplugging amps and wrapping cables and shit. Guess they’ve agreed to lug all their sonic artillery all the way over to Japan’s Sonicmania festival on Friday, August 17, alongside co-headliners Nine Inch Nails and Marshmello. (Just imagine, dude: they’re probably out buying 9-volts, slashing their speaker cones, boarding their cats, and taking their Econoline to Jiffy Lube as we speak!)

I think there’s also supposed to be a new album from them coming this year and stuff, too? But fuck, I might be mixing them up with Slowdive again.

Anyways, just thought I’d give you a heads up on the gig, especially since as it’s kinda far away and August is coming sooner than you think. Keep on rockin, Joe. And take care. I’ll tell Sullivan you say “hey” if I see him. (Did you know he works at a bar right near my place now?)

One Love,

-Dan Smart
