Mykki Blanco announces debut album, new single, and dates

Remember when ALL hip-hop was punk-as-fuck??? Controversial hip-hop “performer, musician, writer, artist and activist” Mykki Blanco does. And after tossing several different experimental projects into the world over the past few years, it seems he’s finally knuckled-down and done the punkest thing of all: finished a proper debut album.

Well, sure, I guess maybe that’s not super punk at all under a lot of circumstances? But THIS SHIT IS DIFFERENT. The album is titled Mykki and comes out September 16 on the !K7 label, and it’s “the culmination of years of work, recording, touring and imagination.” See? Punk. As. Fuck.

And hey, if you’re still not convinced, check out the album’s newest and just-released single, “The Plug Won’t,” produced by Jeremiah Meece (formerly of The-Drum). It’s described by Blanco as an “anti-love song caught up in a world of drugs and alcohol.” “We’ve all fallen in love under the influence,” Blanco says. “We’ve all realized in the morning it was just the drugs leaving us numb, confused and empty.”

Are you on board with my argument now? Okay, great! Cuz now I can tell you with confidence to pre-order the whole album now from !K7 and check out the full tracklisting and Mykki’s upcoming tour dates down below. So, you know… go do those things.
