NGLY announces debut full-length Cities of Illusion on L.I.E.S.

Is my spine tingling because the middle school nurse incorrectly diagnosed my supposed lack of scoliosis, or am I just empathizing with the words spoken on NGLY’s arguably most appreciated track, which itself has the tendency to send feeling up and down the length of one’s musical vertebrae? Those who have spent some time “in da obscure club” might have had a reasonable chance of hearing “Speechless Tape” among a particular set, and for those who didn’t deign to harass the DJ about the background info surrounding the track, it’s important to note its distributed context: the untitled (or self-titled) EP released on L.I.E.S. in 2014. Sidney Reilly, the Argentinian man behind the moniker, was reportedly content to let that solid effort in outsider house ruminate as he gathered some ideas.

Ideas = gathered, as NGLY has just announced (without too painful of a wait) Cities of Illusion, his debut full-length, out on L.I.E.S. as a double LP in October. Check out the track “Strange Expression” below, and embrace this seemingly recent house transition from exuberantly optimistic to intriguingly moody.

The former feeling probably remains if you have plans to check out one of NGLY’s carefully crafted performances though. Keep an eye out for announcements in that realm.
