Pantha Du Prince presents The Triad on upcoming May tour; three musicians playing together never sounded so mysterious

Though we didn’t know it at the time, Noah Lennox a.k.a. Panda Bear’s contribution to Panthu Du Prince’s delightful Black Noise (TMT Review) LP from 2010 was secretly a plea in recognition of the latter’s apparently gradual creative process. At least the hook was. At least part of the hook was, so stick to Hendrik Weber’s side! Because despite the fact that we’ve been delivered almost NO new material since the release of that LP, he’s now highlighting some activities that are of interest to both fans and the public-at-large. Your refusal to rat after bearing witness to a myriad of legal and moral infringements is a testament to your loyalty, and it’s finally paying off. I might be interspersing a common theme from fictional movies about organized crime here, but you get the idea.

Beginning May 1, Pantha Du Prince will be taking a break from his artist residency at the Villa Aurora in Los Angeles to go on a short U.S. tour. Royalty’s rarely without company, so for each show (with the exception of the one in New York), he’ll be accompanied by Norwegian drummer Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg and New York-based guitarist Scott Mou — a collaboration that’s been numerically dubbed The Triad. Or, alternatively, maybe that reference to organized crime wasn’t so irrelevant after all!

Here are the dates, and yup, you can expect new material, presumably from the new album that Pantha’s currently working on:

05.01.14 - San Diego, CA - The Casbah
05.02.14 - Los Angeles, CA - Roxy Theatre
05.03.14 - San Francisco, CA - Mezzanine
05.06.14 - Portland, OR - Doug Fir Lounge
05.07.14 - Seattle, WA - Neumos
05.08.14 - Chicago, IL - Empty Bottle
05.09.14 - New York, NY - Le Poisson Rouge *
