Randy Randall (of No Age) announces new album Sound Field Volume One as part of "Arthur King Presents" series

While No Age are best known for their blistering blasts of art-punk, their albums are made complete by the light/shade interplay between the incendiary walls of noise and the ambient guitar intervals provided by guitarist Randy Randall and his arsenal of guitar and loop pedals. But you’ll be able to fully appreciate the artistry of Randall’s controlled guitar drones all on their lonesome when he releases his debut solo album Sound Field Volume One on March 29 via Dangerbird Records.

More than just eight slices of masterful drone-scapes, Sound Field Volume One is a collaboration put together by the Arthur King art and music collective and comes with a visual accompaniment from visual artist Aaron Farley that match the soundscapes from which Randall drew inspiration.

“This project has been a really fun way to explore the many different environments of Southern California,” says Randall, “We drove along the 10 freeway from the desert at sunrise thru the suburbs in the morning, thru downtown LA in the afternoon and ending at the beach at sunset. This video is the first part of sunset and it reflects the way the beach interacts with the city and how people experience a peaceful environment right next to the highway.”

The LA gallery 1700 Naud will host the marrying of the two halves of Sound Field Volume One by hosting a multimedia installation consisting of Farley’s visuals being played alongside the record over two weekends on March 29 - 31 and April 5 - 7.
