Raster, fresh from its conjoined separation, announces compilation series dedicated to "hidden, unknown, perhaps forgotten music"
Frank Bretschneider, Raster co-founder and master of the mean mug

ICYMI: the inimitable Germany-based glitch and electronic label, Raster-Noton, didn’t so much dissolve last year so much as it “pulled a Benjamin Button.” Borne out of two separate labels — Rastermusik and Noton — back in 1999, Raster-Noton did what identical twins do on a cellular level in utero and split into Raster and Noton once again. Raster now handles what would’ve been the typical catalog of Raster-Noton, while Noton is exclusively used as the publishing outfit for Carsten Nicolai a.k.a. Alva Noto.

And while Raster already has a few releases under its belt, co-founder Frank Bretschneider is reliably supplementing that output by announcing a new compilation series called Sichten. Each issue will be “supervised and compiled by a curator,” and the goal of the series is to expose listeners to some electronica’s “hidden, unknown, perhaps forgotten music” made by quality artists who haven’t yet made it to the forefront of their respective micro-scenes.

Look forward to first edition of Sichten, curated by Bretschneider himself, coming out on September 21. And in the mean time, have a listen to the track “Joy” from Benjamin Brunn and check out the album’s full tracklisting down below.
