If you’re a musician, the rogue capabilities of “influence” are something to always keep a watchful eye on. The trick is to wear your inspirations’ affectations well, without letting those swindling, backstabbing little rascals hijack your artistic relevance. Screaming Females’ frontwoman Marissa Paternoster has done a truly medal-worthy job over the years of etching (and maintaining) her very own indie rock singularity, even if the Sleater-Kinney inspiration has never been more than an arm’s length away. And despite the tremor that creeps its way down into the darkest depths of your loins whenever she sounds her banshee wail, she always skillfully manages to keep the pitchfork-wielding masses at a safe, “you can look but you can’t touch” kind of distance. And that’s badass.

So needless to say, it brought me great joy to hear the announcement of Screaming Females’ 7th full length LP, All At Once, which is due out February 23 of next year on Don Giovanni Records — the same label which picked the New Jersey trio up more than a decade ago, and with whom the band has fit ever since like chocolate-covered pretzels dunked into a mug of boxed wine.

And speaking of delicious combinations, the band has also just released a brand-spanking new video to compliment the album track “Glass House,” which you can feast your eyes on below. It basically features the trio getting schwapped upside their heads with various dinnerware by a creepy maître d’ and concludes with a goosebump-inducing outro wherein Paternoster delivers a display of vocal fortitude reminiscent of Siouxsie Sioux’s Juju glory days.

Screaming Females will also be on tour through the end of the month, prior to launching a hat-trick of late February album-release shows at Jersey City’s Monty Hall. Check out all the dates below, and be sure to pre-order from Don Giovanni now, particularly if you want to get your greasy little paws on the record’s deluxe 3 x LP version, replete with a limited-edition 7-inch containing live bonus tracks. Talk about “all at once!”
