Y’all. Stop what you’re doing.

I’ve got some #HugeNews:

Venerable Chicago tropic-pop veterans The Sea and Cake…HAVE FINALLY JOINED TWITTER!!!

Wait…wait. That’s not it (impressive as that is). Sorry.

Ah, here we are: it’s that they’ve just announced a brand new album!

It’s their first since 2012’s Runner — and it’s also their first recorded as a trio (viz. Sam Prekop, Archer Prewitt, and John McEntire) following the departure of bassist Eric Claridge. As ever, though, the group’s characteristic solemn and salt-breezy touch (largely-acoustic instrumental palates, jazzy and gently overlapping rhythmic textures, feather-light melodies, comfy-yet-abstruse lyrics, you know the drill) remains ridiculously intact.

The resultant long-player, which is entitled Any Day, is due May 11 on Thrill Jockey. But you know what? Fuck “any day.” Listen to the title track down below TODAY. And while you’re at it, check out the cover art and tracklisting below RIGHT NOW. And pre-order the album WHENEVER’S CONVENIENT FOR YOU.

Oh yeah, and keep your eyes PEELED AF for a proper, honest-to-god Tweet about all this, which I assume is coming, like, you know…any day now.

Any Day tracklisting:

01. Cover the Mountain
02. I Should Care
03. Any Day
04. Occurs
05. Starling

07. Day Moon
08. Into Rain
