See, the thing is — once you make a thing that officially gets “critically-acclaimed”… that thing fuckin’ STAYS critically-acclaimed.
For, like, A WHILE.
Hence, even though Sufjan Stevens released his Carrie and Lowell album on Asthmatic Kitty nigh-on a year ago (and has pretty much already toured on it … twice), he still gets to drag his groin-grabbingly-transcendent live show out into the light of day and/or lurid neon of night whenever the hell he feels like it.
ESPECIALLY come summer-festival season. This year, Stevens has announced that he’ll be hitting all the big spots and then-some, including P4K, Coachella, Sasquatch, Outside Lands, Boston Calling, Panorama, and more. He’s even decided to do a couple of one-off headlining shows in Virginia and Colorado — a.k.a. the “unofficial twin-capitals of the U.S.A.” And honestly? There ain’t nothin’ us little peons can DO about that shit but nod our ascent, scurry to snag our “tix,” stand around out there getting sunburned, swoon to the music, applaud for the encores, and LOVE every damn minute of it. And love it we shall, my friends. Because, again: Sufjan Stevens is STILL famous and awesome. And we’re… still not.
