Swans announce final shows before their next mutation (no, REALLY this time)
Take one last look, world.

Wait, what was that about a “last hurrah in its present incarnation?” At this point, we might need to consciously adjust our expectations of general “hurrah-length,” because, in addition to taking the latter half of 2016 by storm with shows in support of a man who was possibly struck by lightning, the inimitable Swans have been revealing more and more tour dates (the most recent remnants of which that are taking place in Europe right now, as it so happens.)

However, a message from Michael Gira himself does blatantly suggest that THIS TIME FOR SURE, these shows will genuinely represent the last of Swans (in its current form). And, similar to the way that the band awesomely brought in former member Jarboe as a righteous homage to/celebration of the latest Swans incarnation, the three final shows — which are all taking place at Brooklyn’s Warsaw venue — will also feature three purposefully chosen guest musicians. The lovingly abrasive cellist Okkyung Lee will also be reviving her support role for the August shows, while Baby Dee will rejoin shortly thereafter.

Those three final guests, though? Well, those would be Carla Bozulich on November 2, Swedish singer/songwriter Anna Von Hausswolff on November 3, and the somewhat contrasting ADULT. on November 4.

Also worth noting is the 2xCD live album Deliquescence, which was released just a few days ago as a tangible recollection of these final tour dates. Check out the complete list of final, final, FINAL dates below, after you read Gira’s own vibrant feedback regarding the band and these last seven years:

Much love to these intrepid explorers of sonic truth! May God snatch us all by his teeth and fling us out over his shoulder into the great black beyond, where we will spin slowly and infinitely through space with an ever-nascent smile emerging on our face.
