Okay: So, Diplo, Pusha T, and Rivers Cuomo walk into a Zeds Dead album. There is no punchline, because this is not some elaborate set-up for the most contrived joke of all-time. This is reality. All three are collaborators on Northern Lights, the debut album from Zeds Dead, due out on the duo’s own Deadbeats label this September. Elliphant, Jadakiss, Styles P, and Twin Shadow also contribute to the album, with even more guests to be revealed when the time is right. (Fingers crossed for the bad guy from The Mask!)
Concurrently, Zeds Dead have also announced a set of worldwide tour dates. Appropriately dubbed “The Northern Lights Tour,” the duo promise a newly conceived stage show, one that will (appropriately again) draw inspiration from the actual northern lights phenomenon. Having absolutely zero authority on the matter, I can guarantee that this stage show will be more impressive than the time I drove around Long Island for several hours trying to see the northern lights, only to suffer temporary blindness at the hands of a lighthouse instead.
