Tim Hecker, who we last heard on 2018’s Konoyo, is back. If you found yourself approaching the end of that record and thought, “wow, I’d love to hear more stuff like this,” you are very much in luck.

Anoyo, out in May via Kranky, “draws from the same sessions with members of Tokyo Gakuso which led to the 2018 album Konoyo.” What more could you ask for?? From the sounds of album opener “That world,” this isn’t some cash-in album comprised of bottom of the barrel, tossed-off filler tracks. Rather, it sounds just as carefully considered, nuanced, and as deep as its predecessor.

You can pre-order the album in digital, vinyl, and CD editions, ahead of the May 10 release. But first, since you’re here, peep this teaser video and stream “That world” below:

Anoyo tracklisting:

01. That world
02. Is but a simulated blur
03. Step away from Konoyo
04. Into the void
05. Not alone
06. You never were
