Titus Andronicus detail new album A Productive Cough, urge you to get a flu shot before release
I wouldn't stand too close to Patrick Stickles, if I were you.

SIIICK! New Jersey’s mightest-rocking punk boys since Glenn Danzig, Titus Andronicus, have just announced their new LP, A Productive Cough! Now, I’m no doctor; but I’m thinking this one’s about to go viral! That’s right: the album is set to infect a record store near you March 2 via Merge Records, which is too soon to administer proper quarantine procedure, so it sounds like you’ll be catching the bug along with the rest of us. Oh no!

No need to worry, though, because I went to WebMD and got the lowdown on this thing: A Productive Cough finds Titus Andronicus (I always preferred King Lear, but whatever…) “setting aside the leadfooted punk anthems of yesteryear in favor of a subtler, more spacious approach that pushes [singer-songwriter Patrick] Stickles’ soul-baring songwriting to the fore, creating a conversational intimacy between artist and audience with which previous +@ efforts had only flirted.” Yeah, you forgot Titus Andronicus went by symbols now, didn’t you!?

Of course, what’s an album announcement without an infectious new single to go along with it? Luckily, Titus Andronicus have the prescription: a video for the new track “Number One (In New York),” aurally ingest-able down below! As a bonus, the video also doubles as a preview of a forthcoming documentary on the making of the album from director Ray Concepcion coming February 26! It’s an epidemic!

If you’d like to hear about symptoms, side-effects, and treatment, the band has helpfully set up a new government-mandated website, a-productive-cough.com, where you can learn more (via interviews, tour info, etc.) on your own time.

If you’d rather bypass all these shit jokes and get right to the good stuff, pre-order A Productive Cough at all your favorite outlets here, and check out the full tracklisting and the band’s current tour itinerary below. In any case, be safe out there: +@ fever is back, and it’s more contagious than ever!
