Fans of all things David Lynch, double vinyl, and Transcendental Meditation will be delighted to know that there’s a hot new LP on the market that combines all of the above… and more. It’s called The Music of David Lynch, but, somewhat confusingly, the double LP doesn’t actually include music made or performed by Lynch himself, but instead refers to last year’s tribute show held at the Ace Hotel Theatre in downtown Los Angeles that featured classics from Lynch’s cinematic output as interpreted by Chrysta Bell, Duran Duran, Lykke Li, Moby, Donovan, Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Zola Jesus, Sky Ferreira, and more.
Yes, Angelo Badalamenti is on this thing, too. The album, like the tribute show after which it is named, will benefit The David Lynch Foundation, which works to bring Transcendental Meditation to populations dealing with traumatic stress, among others. It’s out April 15.
