Umor Rex announces four new tapes for July, premieres playlist of new batch

The excellent Umor Rex label is set to release four new cassettes this month, from Brett Naucke, Maar, Siavash Amini & Matt Finney, and Alexandre Bazin.

What can listeners expect? Bazin’s a French composer whose debut for the label, Full Moon, splits the difference between electronic film scores and new age, as lushly demonstrated across its 11 tracks. Meanwhile, modular maestro Brett Naucke’s Executable Dreamtime utilizes gorgeously textured synth arpeggios to “categoriz[e] reoccurring dreams thematically,” as Maar’s clanking Absolute Delay pairs glitchy musique concrète and glacial ambient to generate disorienting sonic architecture. Finally, the duo of Siavash Amini & Matt Finney’s haunting Familial Rot presents a bleak collage of lugubrious drones and Finney’s occasional mad mutterings.

TMT has the pleasure of premiering a playlist of the new batch, with selected tracks from each of the four tapes. Pre-order the cassettes here, which are out July 22, and listen to the playlist below.
