As far as band names go, Vetiver couldn’t have gotten it righter. Derived from the native-to-India bunchgrass plant chrysopogon zizanioides, vetiver oil is often referred to as the “oil of tranquility” due to its ambrosial, deeply soothing scent. Andy Cabic’s band of the same name cuts a wide swath with its healthy embrace of diverse musical styles, but regardless of the sound path chosen from song to song, it is always like an oasis of peaceful ease and good vibes amid the uncomfortable, mad scenes found outside the Vetiverse.
Cabic returns with a new album in November and has released the first single from it entitled “To Who Knows Where.” The album, Up On High, is out on November 1 through Mama Bird Recording Co. (US/world) and Loose Music (UK/Europe). Pre-orders are available here and here.
Vetiver have also announced a west coast tour of the U.S. that will keep them busy for a good chunk of November. Following these shows, the band will travel to England and Scotland for some December dates.
