Will Long christens 2018 with Long Trax 2, out this March on Smalltown Supersound

Will Long is the righteous gift that keeps on giving. With his output as Celer alone, he puts out so much music per year via his Bandcamp page that it’s almost a full-time job to keep up. Now, for the second year in a row, Long is returning to his meditative house music alias (a.k.a. his own name) for Long Trax 2, out March 16 on Norway’s Smalltown Supersound. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” -John 1:17

This (relatively) short-release blessing plays sequel to his phenomenally-underrated double LP last year — which featured a dub version of every track contributed by Long’s friend, stylist, and mentor DJ Sprinkles (Terre Thaemlitz). While the previous album was released on Thaemlitz’s own Comatonse Records, the new one takes its own cherub steps on the Nordic label home to the likes of Kelly Lee Owens, Lindstrøm, and Prins Thomas. Praise be! The student becomes the teacher!

Furthering the glorious influence from Thaemlitz’s theory work, the press release for Long Trax 2 reminds us that “we shouldn’t need clubs to hide from our fears and differences in the outside world. Looking ahead, we should look not so optimistically upon what we have accomplished, but with urgency and empathy upon what we haven’t.” Cue DJ Sprinkles vocal sample please!

Like its predecessor, this new testament will be available to buy as three separate 12-inch singles, as well as CD and digital, any/all of which can be pre-ordered right here. Hallelujah! Check out the artwork by Tsuji Aiko below and stream Long Trax’s pretty damn long first track “Nothing’s Changed” to get yourself hyped. Can I get an “amen” for that?!
