Zomby details new EP GASP!, shares title track, really startled me there
Ooooooooooh! Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

It’s been just about a year since U.K. producer Zomby dropped his album Ultra on Hyperdub, but how much longer will we have to wait for him to once again rise from the dead? Well, hopefully you’re pretty good at identifying rhetorical questions, because the king of the jungle(-influenced dance music) is ALIIIIIIIVE! once again with a brand new EP: GASP! (AH!) on Big Dada.

As always, Zomby’s is carefully cultivating an air of mystery surrounding this thing. Here are the details:

In his signature spirit of cryptic variety, “GASP!” explores another tectonic revision in Zomby’s style. Utilizing analog equipment that was recorded live to a digital surface, he says, “I was tired of too much digitisation and over-saturation; this is a work that represents a shift forward for me.”

You hear that, lie-berals?? The past is the future, now! Analogue is digital! Gasping is the new breathing! Additionally, “The compact, 3-track EP is a relentless, hardware-driven behemoth of beats and breaks that fit somewhere between a chugging steel factory and a darkened dancefloor!” I’ve always said that nothing is more shocking than an electronic musician going analog in 2017.

In case you’re lightheaded from all this sudden heavy breathing, allow me to explain this thing again: GASP! is Zomby’s new EP, out September 8 on Big Dada (pre-order it here). And “GASP!” is a new track from the aforementioned EP, which you can listen to below. You should really check it out before Zomby returns to the grave (or in this case, probably just a dopeass home studio in his flat with all kinds of modular synths and archaic hardware and wires and shit). But if you don’t, that’s okay, too. After all, it’s not like it’s gonna KILL him!

(Which reminds me: R.I.P. George Romero.)
