Damn, WHERE WAS THIS NEW VIDEO from Tempe, Arizona-based instrumental duo Lymbyc Systym TWO OR THREE HOURS AGO, when I needed some gentle, groovy soft-electro-rock to motivate and inspire me to finish-strong on my early morning Pilates routine?!? Grrrr. (In case you’re wondering, instead of doing that, I crapped-out and spent the last five or six minutes left on the exercise DVD whimpering in a fetal position on my floor while visions of sugar-dusted apple-cinnamon pancakes whizzed around my head like delicious flying carb-saucers).
Oh well. At least the thing is here now in all its world-premiere glory. And, to be sure, what a grandiosely puffed-up piece of life-affirming, pie-in-the-sky, feel-goodery it is!
The new clip (by director Montana Wildhack) is for the instrumental track “Split Stones,” which comes off of brothers brothers Jared and Michael Bell’s 2015 album of the same name. It begins with a delightful sample of “an ’80s body relaxation cassette brothers Jared and Mike Bell’s mom used to play in the car when they were kids” and, from there, basically features everyone on PLANET EARTH (including label-mate Christopher Tignor of Wires Under Tension) listening and reacting… “emotionally” to said-cassette (spoiler alert: there’s not a dry eye in the house).
Split Stones the album is available now in vinyl and digital iterations, courtesy of the Western Vinyl label. And the Bell bros. will also also hitting the road next month for a little run of U.S. dates. (If I were them, I’d be blasting this new vid nonstop inside my tour van to keep it motivated, just in case it felt like crapping-out over those Pennsylvania foothills on the final leg. Right???)
