♫♪  M. Geddes Gengras - I Am The Last of That Green and Warm-Hued World

Say it with me now:

Illusory Syrup

(for reference:
“Illusory” synonyms: fanciful, imagined, specious, delusive

“Syrup” synonyms: I don’t know, syrup is syrup?)

Okay, I know “illusory syrup” doesn’t really mean anything, in fact it means nothing, but honestly, does anything mean anything anymore?

I’m talking ambiguity here, people. The buzzword of our age, no? And what is ambiguity if not… illusory syrup? And what is illusory syrup if not this new M. Geddes Gengras tape, I am the Last of That Green and Warm-Hued World? It’s squishy and soundscape-y and expansive and imaginative. Like, you could slather it on a pancake. Go ahead—dip your hand in it. Swirl it around a little.

Okay, okay. You’re right. You can’t put your hand in it because music isn’t physical. Well, I mean…it’s created physically. And you can dance to it. But the sound itself isn’t physical. Is it? Well… if sound can be illusory… and if illusions are mirrors of reality… and if reality is physical…

But—How Can Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren’t Real?

Nevermind. Back to this syrup stuff. I’m neck deep in it, this illusory syrup. And I’m sinking deeper every minute while listening to this tape. It’s pulling me in like I belong in it. Like I was born in it. I’m saying, I’m over here floating, gestating, just waiting for the rest of you to sink in with me. I’m talking immersion here, people.

Listen: I am the Last of That Green and Warm-Hued World will drop May 17th on cassette and digitally via Hausu Mountain. We got a nifty little premiere down below. Go ahead—get lost in the syrup.
