♫♪  Cadu Tenório + Marcio Bulk - “Estela” (feat Alice Caymmi & Bruno Cosentino)

From their EP feast of a release Banquete, collaborators Cadu Tenório + Marcio Bulk have put a video to their track “Estela,” featuring vocalists Alice Caymmi and Bruno Cosentino. As all four musicians are Brazilian, the question of “WHY?” WILDLY drives my curiosity in light of their decision to use phonemically cropped video images of tennis being played by two women in Hong Kong to a nearly empty seated court. And considering I don’t speak the language they deploy lyrically, I’m only to assume the song is about some sort of longing for attention. Putting great talent into something, drawing upon beauty within the corners, and enhancing colors of a situation to their brilliancy, yet for very few to witness. Like that selfie you’re too embarrassed to share publicly because #Selfies ain’t YOU, but it’s probably the best picture you have of yourself. “Estela” video also proves my “mirage-gaze” genre mapping for the group because I imagine these women playing tennis are thinking double the amount of people they can SEE are ACTUALLY watching.

We’re watching the desertion of “Estela.” We’re hearing the etiquette of skill of Cadu Tenório, Marcio Bulk, Alice Caymmi and Bruno Cosentino. Will the Banquete ever be satiated?
