1080p announces (astoundingly clear!) August releases from Gobby, Bobo Eyes, Mark Wundercastle, and Temple Volant

Richard MacFarlane is doing God’s work, whether he realizes it or not, so long as we ditch the image of God as some vengeful bastard on the omnipresent lookout for sodomy. MacFarlane’s self-described “casual” approach to running the 1080p label from his Vancouver, BC residence has coincided with a deliberate frequency of releases that should keep any fan of off-kilter dance music happy and hoping for continued hi-def (though not always literally) existence. The opposite approach, contrarily, might bring a handful of releases every year, and I don’t know about you, but I just don’t have the patience for that type of propagational stripteasing. Rip those clothes off in a single motion, I say! I’ll do the same! Oh, that breeze feels nice.

Next month is a particularly revealing time for 1080p, as the label has a release planned for each week, pumping us with rhythmic fluids from lesser-knowns on a reliable basis. First, though, a name that you should undoubtedly recognize if you’re a regular reader: Gobby will be revisiting his more obviously techno proclivities with Wallet & Cellphone on August 5. Then on August 12, Bobo Eyes will soothe with lo-fi- vocals via Midnight Pearl. Mark Wundercastle will bring us some supremely heavy and well-developed tunes with Cell on August 19, and Temple Volant will subsequently take you into the life of Aquaman, if all Aquaman cared about was exploring shit in the deep sea and flipping the bird to his superhero responsibilities. Daydream Drawings comes out August 26.

Cassettes and MP3s! That’s what 1080p’s about. Those are the formats.
