1080p presents EP from Dutch electronic duo Betonkust & Palmbomen II

Of course, Center Parcs De Eemhof in The Netherlands was more or less empty when Dutch producers Betonkust & Palmbomen II began recording their upcoming EP there; if it’s anything like the premier park local to my neighborhood, regrettable heroin users and people of ambiguous socioeconomic background would’ve hastily started gathering around, dancing in arrhythmic ways, and brandishing their drug paraphernalia in a manner similar to the way people otherwise do with cell phones today. All of that would at least make it hard to concentrate on composing a new release, but fortunately, all the two actually had to deal with was a little weather. You can almost hear the overcast and sparse presence of humanity in the music itself.

The Center Parcs EP is set for release February 22 on 1080p, and even though it doesn’t follow much in the way of formal releases from the duo, there’s an apparent promise of futuristic throwback with the “crunchy” (a word aptly used by the 1080p description) IDM on aural display. Either that, or when you try think about it from a temporal perspective, it’s kind of hard to narrow down an appropriate decade for the tunes.
