To PNWesterners and those justifiably traveling from afar (including the curator himself): the final edition of Substrata is less than a month away, which hopefully means that you’ve opted for physical preparation by performing a series of yoga poses underneath a nearby body of water. The introspective event is still scheduled to go on mostly as planned, but this week, an unfortunate announcement was made concerning the lineup. Due to “serious ongoing health problems,” the influential Arovane (Uwe Zahn) has sadly had to cancel his rare trip to the United States and, therefore, his scheduled performance at Substrata. Taking his place will be bvdub (Brock Van Wey), who I’m sure is more than up to the task of doing justice to the moniker being replaced.
Uwe himself sent a note indicating his regret, along with an unreleased track originally meant to be a part of his Substrata performance. The note: “I’m deeply saddened that I couldn’t fly over to Seattle, to perform at Substrata, to meet you, to see my fans and friends. - Uwe”
