Sure, Dave Chappelle may have burned in the minds of young adults the actualization of R. Kelly’s alleged penchant for watersports, but the decision to include him in this year’s lineup is not without its rationale. Not only is Kelly a Chicago native (and inarguably one of the most successful R&B artists in recent decades), but Pitchfork, for whatever reason, has actually been pretty consistent in covering non-urine-related news concerning the singer.
In any case, there’s no need for explanation when it comes to the inclusion of Björk and Belle & Sebastian. The rest of the lineup will be announced in the coming weeks, and the festival itself will take place July 19-21 at Chicago’s Union Park.
