Brian Eno and Karl Hyde to release new collab LP High Life, toast their accomplishment with shitty American beer

You might go around saying that you’re “not much of an Eno fan” or whatever. And you might even think that you mean it. But…nope. Too bad. You’re wrong. As far as he’s concerned, you just haven’t heard the “right” Eno record for you yet! So, if you don’t mind, he’ll just keep on cranking them out until you DO, thank you very much.

As it turns out, he and his Tuesday night bar trivia partner Karl Hyde have just announced the July 1 release of YET ANOTHER full-length collaborative LP on Warp. This one is titled High Life and follows pretty ridiculously immediately on the heels of Someday World, which just came out like three weeks ago and is hopefully already THE definitive Eno album for a few people somewhere…

But truly, what’s the explanation for this weirdly brisk turnaround? Is Eno afraid that he might go EVEN BALDER and no one will take him seriously as a “sound artist” anymore? (Maybe! I mean, David Lynch still has TONS of hair!) But officially: “When Someday World was finished I felt like we were still on a roll and I wasn’t ready to stop working and get into ‘promotional mode’ for that record. So I suggested we immediately start on another album, a different one, where we extended some of the ideas we’d started, and attempted some of the ideas we hadn’t.” See? There you go. The man just hates doing real work and would rather fuck around with his friend all day. Just like you and me!

Oh, and don’t be fooled by the briefness of the tracklisting down below. This one may only be six tracks long, but it ain’t no supplemental EP thing. It’s apparently 45 minutes long, and Warp seems to believe in the thing enough to also release it as a double gatefold vinyl on August 25. So, you know, why shouldn’t YOU?
