David Lynch’s Festival of Disruption ascends to NYC with Animal Collective, Angel Olsen, Jon Hopkins, Flying Lotus, and possibly James Hurley?

Holyshitholyshitholyshit EVERYONE. It’s David Lynch news time! The director —lukewarm off the heels of last year’s *kisses fingertips* exquisite Twin Peaks: The Return — is doing a little bit of returning himself with the announcement that his music and arts festival, Festival of Disruption, is headed to New York! And not just anywhere in New York, but the famed Brooklyn Steel! And it all benefits the David Lynch Foundation (as usual)! It’s almost like we live inside a dream or something!

But hold your applause, loyal Lynchians, until I reveal this garmonbozia-packed lineup! (As an aside, do you ever worry we’re just dismantling Lynch’s profound ouvre into an increasingly meaningless series of inane memes?…Eh, you’re right: probably not.) This year’s event is stacked with artists including Angel Olsen, Animal Collective, Au Revoir Simone, Flying Lotus, Jon Hopkins, Rebekah Del Rio, and Jim James. To directly quote from Twin Peaks: “Jim James has always been cool.”

The two-day festival will also feature plenty of screenings, exhibits, and “meditation experiences”— you know, for all you folks who think live music is a garbage-tier medium (I don’t blame you). These special events include Lynch himself presenting rare short films, a screening of his classic Blue Velvet with actress Isabella Rossellini, and exhibits from William Eggleston, Sandro Miller, and David O’Reilly. Consider my gob smacked!

But when do I shut up and tell you the dates and where to buy tickets? Right now! Festival of Disruption: Brooklyn Edition hits the streets May 19 and 20, and tickets will be on sale here starting March 8 (no need to rush to your calendar app — that’s this Thursday). For more info, you can always check out the festival website here (it’s okay, you won’t hurt my feelings).

At any rate, enjoy your Bang Bang Bar experience, New York!
