Demdike Stare to release the bats AND new Testpressing#001 single on Modern Love

Terrifying Lancastrian witch-lovers Demdike Stare have unleashed a new slab of (almost) dancey menace on the record-buying public. Together with the demented elves over at Modern Love Records in Manchester, the experimental duo of Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker have ushered in a brand new series of 12-inch releases for the label under the Testpressings banner. Aptly, Demdike’s inaugural issue is called Testpressing#001 and features two blazing new tracks, both of which can be heard in full below.

The A-side, “Collision,” was recorded during late 2012 in a dentist’s office from hell, where the sun is always setting in a blood red sky but there’s also a disco ball and a human-sized vampire bat on the 1s and 2s playing warped jungle records. That bat just wants to dance! But he doesn’t know our human ways of love and “party drugs” and neon, so it’s a little bit unsettling and you can hear it in this track. Fun fact: you can actually HEAR the bat doing spoken word at the beginning of B-side “Misappropriation.” Testpressing#001 is currently available for purchase at Boomkat. The label plans to release further Testpressing 12-inches and more bats at an unspecified date in the future.
