¡DON CABALLERO ERES MUY LOCOS!

Just practicing my entry-level Spanish over here. For those who do not speak the language at its most rudimentary, I said something about Don Caballero being very crazy. And they sure are! Or, at least, they were. Chunklet Industries, the industrial arm of the mighty Chunklet empire, is releasing recorded proof of the math-rock titans’ craziness, in the form of a vinyl release titled Five Pairs of Crazy Pants, Wear ‘Em: Early Don Caballero. The set will see release on June 10 a.k.a. the craziest day in June a.k.a. Diez de Junio.

Crazy Pants documents a time in December of 1991, when the boys in Don Cab, mere months into existence, drove over to Carnegie Mellon’s campus to record 11 songs. And the rest was history! Slowly parceled out history! Most of these songs made it onto the band’s early singles or their debut album For Respect, but two of the tracks never made it to any release in any form. No release except for Crazy Pants, Wear ‘Em: Early Don Caballero, out June 10 on Chunklet Industries. I think I might have mentioned that before.

If a vision into the early days of Don Caballero isn’t enough (you bloodsuckers), the record comes with a download of the band’s second live show, recorded in late 1992. For those who order the record directly through Chunklet, the record comes as 2xLP version including that very live set. By the way, that live set happens to be titled Look At Them Ellie Mae Wrists Go!: Live Early Caballero. It is titled this for reasons I am not privy to.

Check out a trailer for the record below via YouTube, a site that was not even a twinkle in anyone’s eyes back in 1991. Or, if you’re more of an “I want to hear songs from the album” type, check out some selected tracks at Chunklet’s SoundCloud page, another web staple that people were not imagining 23 years ago. Honestly, I guess I could say that about most things on the internet. I don’t know why I’m making such a big deal.

Let’s wrap this sucker up with some dry information about the vinyl. The records were cut direct to lacquer by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service. The set comes in a gatefold jacket. Enjoy this information.
