Godspeed You! Black Emperor announce positively ghoulish European tour in October (that's when Halloween is)
Until then, relax.

Hmm, wait a minute…isn’t it a little weird for a band so preoccupied with dystopia to be appearing in public this often? I don’t know about you, but I like the world that I live in to be free of barely-contradictions, and in addition to eating popcorn being acceptable only when a movie of 90 minutes or longer is playing, it’s also preferable to me that all traffickers in dark or apocalyptic theory never EVER exude anything that could even be remotely considered “social” behavior (exceptions can be made if the people in-question disappear from society for an extended period of time; or if, every time they do appear in public, it’s as mysterious, amorphous figures dressed in black, a la the Nazgûl from Lord of the Rings).

THANKFULLY, Montreal’s favorite doom cult Godspeed You! Black Emperor have more or less achieved those aforementioned requirements, chiefly by going on a roughly 10-year hiatus beginning in 2002. And I don’t know if their early shows had quite the same aesthetic, but the one that I caught on their reunion tour was definitely one of the literally-darkest that I’ve ever attended. Luckily no hobbits were stabbed. (Sauron’s still a dick, though.)

Anyway! The band’s latest — and possibly SPOOKIEST — appearance in the physical realm is set to take place this October in the land where all that shadowy, gothic, Lord of the Rings-type shit was invented: Europe. While you’re waiting for the seance to begin, check out TMT’s review of Godspeed’s most recent album, and peep the full listing of those tour dates — including a sure-to-be-terrifying Halloween show in London — down below:
