Important Records announce first LP in Eliane Radigue vinyl reissue series, Geelriandre/Arthesis

As we look out upon the desolate gray snowscapes snaking across the countryside this cold winter, I wonder: has there ever been a better time to celebrate the prolific legacy of French composer/sound artist/electronic pioneer Eliane Radigue? As it turns out, Important Records (as ever) has the scoop on a new vinyl reissue series centered around Radigue’s…ummmm, let’s say important back catalog. Similarly, TMT, as ever, has the scoop (just, you know, a couple days late) on the first of these LPs to drop: Geelriandre/Arthesis.

“Geelriandre,” the first sequentially but second alphabetically of the two pieces, was composed in 1972 on Radigue’s signature ARP 2500 with Gérard Fremy assisting on piano. In contrast, “Arthesis,” from 1973, uses “the University of Iowa’s Moog” (Hawkeye synth-heads, stand up!) for the extent of its sound design. Check out an audio sample of “Geelriandre” below.

Geelriandre/Arthesis arrives January 4. Pre-order the record on either black or limited-edition clear vinyl at the Important Records store, and prepare your pockets, both analog and digital, for the reissues to come.
