Jens Lekman breaks his trademark oh-so-silence to announce new album, share single, and tour

Okay, all you neurotic, lovesick nutcases; calm down. The doctor is now IN.

That doctor’s name is, of course, Swedish troubadour-extraordinaire Jens “Motha-Frikkin’” Lekman. And his one-size-fits-all prescription for all your pathetic problems is a brand new album of equal-parts-sweet-and-acerbic chamber pop (his fourth), titled Life Will See You Now, which you can pick up at the pharmacy February 17 courtesy of the Secretly Canadian record label/health-and-wellness group. Oh, and he’s also not a doctor. But c’mon, what the F do you care when he’s got the GOODS?

And speaking of goods, Life Will See You Now features a “more expansive” and “upbeat” Dr. Lekman, who even hired producer Ewan Pearson (M83, The Chemical Brothers, Goldfrapp) to help him craft some of the “disco, calypso, samba, and bossa nova” rhythms that skitter through this new 10-pack of pills.

And speaking of “speaking of goods,” Lekman has also just released the album’s sunny, steel-pan-sampling (for real) lead single “What’s That Perfume That You Wear?.” Coming soon: a video for the song directed by… Christopher Good! It “depicts a relationship as a vase that’s shattered” and “won’t hold water any longer.” (It’s what’s called “a metaphor.”)

So yeah. Buck up, buttercup. You’ve got some doctor’s orders to follow: pre-order Life Will See You Now right over here (the bundle includes a “limited postcard flexi of ‘What’s That Perfume That You Wear? (acapella version)’ and a limited one-sided flexi of bonus track ‘Two Young Lovers’”), check out the complete album tracklist and a huge list of full-band tour dates coming soon to a seasonal-affective-disordered city near you, and then peep the embed for the single down below. Then, call Lekman in the morning. (If he doesn’t answer, it’s either because he’s busy AF or because you were right all along and you really are a huge, unlovable, paranoid loser!)
