Jessica Pratt set to deliver love, hope, and a new album in 2015 via Drag City

Just a gentle reminder to you all: sure things look pretty dark and dire with the ebola/ISIS axis threatening to wipe out all traces of our existence right now, but fear not, because we have music, and music = hope, and even if our politicians don’t seem to have a vision of our future, at least Drag City can see a life for us all in 2015 filled with music — ergo, hope.

Californian folk chanteuse Jessica Pratt slowly set hearts alight with her sleeper hit album Jessica Pratt a few years back, now she’s joined forces with Drag City to bring her next missive called On Your Own Love Again on January 27, 2015 (i.e., the future).

Jessica Pratt featured on all number of year-end-lists a few years back, and you’d think that it would be nigh on impossible to top that album’s warbling beauty. But apparently not, because Drag City assure us that her debut album wasn’t ever intended to be an album in the first place; it was simply a collection of stuff she had recorded over the years since she first picked up a guitar.

On Your Own Love Again, on the other hand, has been conceived and designed as a proper album. The record was recorded in home studios that Pratt set up around San Francisco and Los Angeles over the course of two years, which her label assures us “sands the surface of her more active multi-tracking approach, allowing for a delicate and singular sound.” Which can only mean good things.
