When last we left our heroes in the psych-metal Juggernaut known as Mastodon, they were on a mission to release their newest album Emperor of Sand and, ya know: tour the miserable hell outta this pathetic, god-forsaken rock to which we’re all clinging (along with support from Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles) before the sun swells and sears us all to smithereens, then explodes and incinerates those smithereens.
And, even though that was several months ago now…you’ll NEVER GUESS what the masochists in Mastodon are STILL DOING?
Yeah: even as we speak, they’re hurtling like a warhead through the forests of Europe on a mission to wig-out every human being on earth.
And…after they finish doing that? Yeah, that’s right: they’re coming BACK to North America (yup, with Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles) and playing a zillion more times over here.
After that, they’re probably going to cool down a little, though, right?
OH WAIT NO they’re “playing a series of headline shows in the U.K. this December” that they haven’t even formally listed yet (but that run will include a show at Brixton Academy in London, England on December 10).
And actually, you know what? Fuck it: once that sun does expand and swallow our planet, they’ll just climb aboard and tour THAT too. Hopefully its resident population of alien plasma creatures has its (fireproof) tickets ready.
