Scottish stayers Mogwai have announced another record — pulled from another soundtrack they have scored. This time it’s the KIN soundtrack, from the forthcoming movie of the same name, which will be released via Temporary Residence Ltd. and the band’s own label Rock Action on August 31.
Despite losing a member back in 2015, the group are going from strength to strength in their current format — it’s almost as if all those years of noodling out instrumental post-rock burners was merely the limbering up for the onslaught of audio/visual collaborations they’ve pushed out recently (Zidane, Les Revenants, Before The Flood, Atomic).
KIN is Mogwai’s first “feature film” soundtrack (as opposed to those two-bit documentary films they usually score) and will see the band’s trademark sound fill the quiet parts of a sci-fi crime thriller starring James Franco, Jack Reynor and Miles Truitt.
In addition to collecting sweet KIN royalties, Mogwai will be hitting the road for a slew of club shows and festival slots over the summer.
