Ahead of Pictureplane’s performance tomorrow at the TMT-sponsored GOLDRUSH Music Festival, Mr. Top Goth has dropped a new track called “Riot Porn,” which appears on his forthcoming Anticon debut, Technomancer. Since I don’t know how to write about music, I’ll let Pictureplane a.k.a. Travis Egedy describe it:
Riot Porn isn’t really a political song, but it’s a song about frustration, alienation and freedom. A song about how when people are kept down for so long, its inevitable that they come together to rise up. The song is sung from the perspective of me being aroused by watching footage of another person causing destruction of property and rioting. Footage of riots is frequently called “riot porn” in anarchist communities.
In addition to the track, Pictureplane has announced a slew of North American dates with HEALTH, which begins in November, shortly after the release of Technomancer on October 30.
