Pitchfork Music Festival unveils 2017 headliners, list of special events, 10.0-scale ratings for sunscreen and sunglasses

Hey guys! Guess what? Unlike the most trusted name in news (FOX, duh), Pitchfork — “the most trusted voice in music” — can pretty consistently be counted on to actually NOT steer huge crowds of people entirely wrong very often! At least, not when it comes to their annual summertime bash, The Pitchfork Music Festival, which is taking place this year from Friday, July 14 through Sunday, July 16 at good ol’ dusty Union Park in Chicago. In fact, the most-trusted-music-festival-in-music-festivals has just announced this year’s bill-toppers for each of the three days. And they’re nothing to sneeze at.

LCD Soundsystem (who also pretty much killed it back in 2010) will breeze back in to headline on Friday, the illimitable A Tribe Called Quest will remind us that “everything is fair when you’re living in the city” on Saturday, and Solange (best known, of course, for her role in the classic film Bring it On: All or Nothing) will close shit down on Sunday.

“Awesome,” right? Like, “where can I purchase my tickets, already?” But yo, slow your roll, cuz that’s not EVEN ALL.

This year, Pitchfork Music Festival has also announced “a special collaboration with Saint Heron, Solange Knowles’ “innovative label and arts platform.” The collaboration will consist of a smattering of Saint Heron-curated events — including onsite art installations, film screenings, artist talks, poetry readings, late night jazz jams, and more — all taking place from Thursday, July 13 through Sunday, July 16 at various spots around Chicago.

Oh yeah, and lastly, they’ve also announced a new premium-ticket-y thing this year called “Pitchfork +PLUS” that allows attendees “to enjoy exclusive amenities during the weekend” for the price of a $365 weekend-pass, including:

- Access to premium food vendors
- Access to private specialty bars (21+ area)
- Deluxe air-conditioned bathrooms
- Shaded seating areas
- Cell-phone charging stations
- Storage lockers (limited availability, first come first served basis daily)
- Exclusive and expedited entry to Festival
- “Come and Go” re-entry access to the Festival grounds.

More details regarding the remainder of the weekend’s lineup and Saint Heron event series will be announced in the coming weeks, I’m sure. But in the meantime, peep the list of those Saint Heron special events below, and watch this kid’s video I just found on the internet.
