Have you ever sat around your beautiful home’s experimental electronica decor-themed “bonus room” and thought to yourself wistfully, “oh… if only Suuns members Ben Shemie, Liam O’Neill, Max Henry, and Joseph Yarmush and long-time friend Radwan Ghazi Moumneh of Jerusalem in My Heart had booked a studio in Montreal for seven days back in 2012 to ‘collaborate on rough sketches of song ideas and to complete as much recording as possible without discrimination,’ only to overdub and rework the results in the summer of 2014, finish the final vocals and mixing in the late fall of 2014, and ultimately release the results on April 14 of 2015 via the Secretly Canadian label”???
Well. Then, whoa. First, you sound really cool and well-off and I want to start hanging out with you. As soon as possible. Second, you’re kind of a freaky superhero like Professor X or Sherlock Holmes (the sexy BBC one, I mean). Because BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA: that’s exactly what’s about to happen!!!
The album, simply titled Suuns and Jerusalem in my Heart, was recorded by Moumneh and mixed by him and Max Henry of Suuns as well. “It’s not a Suuns record, it’s not a Jerusalem In My Heart record,” Sunns’ Ben Shemie says. “It’s really a product of 5 musicians that had spent a lot of time on tour listening to music together.” Seriously, man. It’s a real thing that’s really happening. Pat yourself on the back, huh? I think you deserve it.
