The Knife to release mini-album of Shaking the Habitual-style reworks of their own old songs, because they were way too fun and comfortable to listen to before!

Straight up: if you don’t respect what The Knife are doing musically and artistically these days with the likes of last year’s Shaking the Habitual, you’re not a cool person. There. I said it.

And apparently, this is true even if you’re IN THE KNIFE. According to Resident Advisor, the duo is cooling-up their less-cool-than-Shaking the Habitual back catalog by releasing a new mini-album this June! Entitled Shaken-Up Versions, the album “contains new edits of some of The Knife’s best-known tracks—’We Share Our Mother’s Health’ and ‘Silent Shout’ among them—that were performed by the band on the North American leg of their Shaking The Habitual album tour.” Thank GOD, right? I totally hated those bubble-gum cash-grab songs before!

Anyway, the album will arrive digitally (via Mute and Rabid/Brille) on June 16 (preorder here), and less-cool versions pressed to CD and vinyl might show up sometime later on in the summer if they decide to pander to those markets. For a taste of what you’re now obligated to think is the definitive versions of these songs, check out the clip of the “shaken-up” version of “Without You My Life Would Be Boring” down below.
