My, how you’ve grown!

We actually premiered the track “One Hundred Years” from Erica Eso’s debut album 2019 back in 2015. Now, three years later, the Brooklyn art-pop collective is ready to enamor with an evolution that 1) wasn’t composed in an attic (not that attics are necessarily bad places for music composition); and 2) genuinely sounds like a subtly complex musical trip in a time machine.

The band’s new album, 129 Dreamless GMG — which definitely appears to be a step in the “Marty McFly playing the dissonant 80s back in the 50s,” a-temporal sound-honing type direction — is set for release March 16 on NNA Tapes.

Just in case you aren’t familiar with the band theoretically named for a person, Erica Eso consists of founder Weston Minissali (also of Cloud Becomes Your Hand), Rhonda Lowry on drums, Nathaniel Morgan on bass, and Ellen O’Meara and Angelica Bess doing back-up vocals. And clearly, the members had a more focused idea of where they wanted to take the band with the new album (i.e. the press release should be given a proverbial fist-bump for its reiteration of the word “microtonal”).

View the band’s upcoming March tour schedule and check out the album’s trailer and first single “Gun-metal Grey” down below, and pre-order a slice of the future-past-retro-newness from NNA here.
