Orange Milk co-owner Seth Graham says IDGAF, disregards musical canon with new album Gasp out this March

Orange Milk co-owner Seth Graham says IDGAF, disregards musical canon with new album Gasp out this March
"My desire is for you to stop being a fuckwad."

Seth Graham wants you to know he doesn’t give a FUCK what you think.

Okay…not really. But with his upcoming album Gasp, coming in March, the Orange Milk label co-owner has made it clear he is forgoing convention in order to push out a playful, otherworldly modernist album. Something we’ve become a bit accustomed to from the New York label, no?

Gasp was inspired by the jovial sonic compositions of modernists like Gerard Grisey, Julius Eastman, Barbara Hannigan and Noah Creshevsky. With song titles such as “My Desire For You is to Stop Being a Fuck Wad” and “Binary Tapioca,” Graham draws from places of gaiety and wit with his own electronic mastery.

“Gasp lives in the a place where discomfort, vulnerability, and fun melt together to make a gross, classical record,” says Graham. “I have no regard for recognition within the musical canon and I want the audience to hear my indifference toward decorum within my music.” Time to get nasty.

2017 was a big year for Orange Milk (and, ergo, for us, too), with releases from Giant Claw, Machine Girl, Nmesh, and more garnering “Eureka!” reviews from yours truly. And the announcement of Gasp seems to promise there will be no slowing down in 2018. Graham may be saying “good riddance to public decorum,” but here at Tiny Mix Tapes, we can still get hyped!

To prepare yourself accordingly, start practicing your best “taken aback!” face now, pre-order here, check out the artwork and tracklist, and re-visit some classic Graham-action down below while you await Gasp’s arrival on March 26.
